Well life was definitely a "beach" for us on the Labor Day weekend! We headed to Bear Lake and lost the transmission in the truck just past Lava Hotsprings, while pulling our camp trailer with 5 kids in the car. This was not only "beachin" because of losing the tranny, but we had just spent big $$ having the transmission worked on on Monday that week; So that we wouldn't have any truck problems on our trip. HA!!!
I do have to say though, here I was wanting to cry and be WHY WHY WHY. Geary although not thrilled with the situation was making jokes and keeping us all laughing while traveling 25 miles an hour for 3 hours, with no A/C and praying we'd make it all the way in the one gear we had, first. He would get to the top of a little hill and be "hang on everyone we are going 45 miles an hour down, wheeeeee." We'd all raise our arms as if on roller coaster. We barked like dogs and hung our head out the window, and we sang songs. The kids would say how much farther, as they always do, I'd be "two hours"; you said that a while ago "it;s only been five miles we still have two hours at this speed". Then we'd find something to laugh about or entertain us some more, like wave at all the passing cars as if WE were in a parade. It was nice to have someone change the tune from sour to sweet even if he isn't a number one singer. LOL

The reunion it's self was enjoyable and fun, the beach; which brought back lots of great memories, the skits which kept us all laughing and some were so so true (ten second Kelli & gum drop) LOL; but not so enjoyable for my wonderful husband who spent the entire weekend trying to find & replace the transmission in the Sun, Rain and snow.
It's fun to see all my cousins & family but there never seems to be enough time to sit an catch up on lives. When will the kids learn to play nicely with each other and stay safe so the parents can just sit and visit? Yeah, I'm a big dreamer.
Wonderful family members made things work so that our family (six of us) could divide up and ride to Pocatello. THANK YOU EVERYONE! A special thank you to Neil, who towed the camper to Pocatello; but not before blowing a tire (at which point I was asking for the room next door to ten second Kelli) and we had a little worry with the spare. Needless to say when we finally parked the camper and all family members were safe and accounted for it was a relief.
Thank you also to my Dad who took the kids to Idaho Falls to meet Doug, so that they wouldn't miss anymore school and would be home at a decent hour.
Mom and Janis, the reunion was a success and you did a great job putting it all together and pulling off the dinner, activities and letting everyone enjoy each others company. We as as a LARGE HUNTER family pulled off working together when the rain hit and did what we could to keep people dry & the good times rolling. THANK YOU!!
All the memories may not be a warm golden beach, with a beautiful sunset and a light breeze through the trees; but they will linger for years to come and wait to be topped in the years to come. Whooo hooo down hill! LOL
